I am wondering what the courses are like, what your typical day consists of, the benefits and drawbacks, the education level requirements, the state testing requirements (Oklahoma), etc. Any information and/or websites that you can provide would be extremely helpful. I appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you in advance.

Hey fellow Okie :) I have a BA in English and Psych with a degree in secondary education from OSU. I'm not totally familiar with state testing requirement for elementary, but I would venture a guess that they will resemble your class requirements. I've known many who have taken elementary ed and I can assure you the classes are a breeze so I wouldn't be too concerned about the classes or your work load. For example: There is a class dedicated to the reading and critiquing of children's literature. Anyhow, the benefits are that it is easy to find a job as an elementary teacher. If you are really interested go to some university websites and look up all the requirement for obtaining a degree in elementary education. Good Luck.

Contact your local university ...most will have elementary education programs. Find out if they have any open house events planned.
