For example, my walkman CD player wire, which connects the player and the headset. I folded that wire so very neatly, but the day later when I picked the played up, it was all twisted, and unnaturally, and coiled around the player, and in such small coils that one can't but wonder how it did it.
Or if you plug two devises in the same socket, and arrange their wires neatly and straight, and do not touch them for a couple of days - then have a look! They are all twisted, with each other, with the devices, and it takes at least half an hour to put them straight.
Are there any decent, industrious wires which are a credit for the profession, or are they all like this?
And what does the government do to protect people from their vileness?

I have good news and bad news. The good news is there is a trick you can use which can help, the bad news is it works mostly on longer cords than you are using.
For long leads the trick is this: First check the lead for kinks, knots, etc. Untangle the knots and try and unkink the kinks as best you can. Take the lead (excuse me, but I'm right handed, if you are left handed you will have to adapt this) in you left hand with the lead end pointing at yourself and the rest of the lead is away from yourself and make a normal loop (in a clockwise direction) about the size you want the coil to become (about 8 to 10 inches in diameter). As you make the loop pull / run the lead between the right hand thumb and index finger and gently roll it so you thumb is pushing the lead away from yourself. Grab the newly formed coil with you lefthand 3-4-5 fingers and then with the index finger as well. For the next loop (this is tricky, so you will have to practice it, preferably with a lead that is easy to coil) you have to do a backward loop: take a length of the lead in your right hand (finger and thumb) roughly the amount you will use for this loop; roll the lead backwards (thumb towards yourself) and at the same time move the lead away from yourself, drawing the lead into a loop between the part you are rolling and the rest of the coiled lead, making the backward loop as you go. grab the newly formed lead between fingers 3-4-5 and then with the index so it becomes part of the coiled lead. Now do a normal loop, then a backward, alternating as you go.
This seems to work best for long lead where the coil is about a foot in diameter.

In regards to are all leads "awkward" or is it just some, it's a bit like pet dogs. Some, no matter who owns them, are bad, but most will behave themselves with a bit of discipline. Leads and cords are the same.

I noticed someone talking about single strand cords. When I worked for the phone company, most of their wiring used single strand wire, but if you are dealing with hi fi you should always be using multistrand wires (my experience is nearly all hi-fi leads are). These provide much better electrical characteristics, are much easier to handle, and last a lot longer.

I dont think the Gov is doing anything, but the answer is memory. Copper conductors that are tightly wound and packaged tend to "remember" the shape or form they are in for up to months at a time. You can find better cords by searching for ones that look like a single conductor instead of 2 conductors seemed together. Also, you can try purchasing instrument cords and getting a headphone adapter to decrease the size from say a guitar amp input to a headphone jack, which is the same thing only smaller

interior the united kingdom living house wiring makes use of crimson for stay, Black for independent and Earth is bare copper (on occasion with a green or green/yellow sleeve). Take care, i've got seen cord colorings used in wisely - constantly be sure. while you're no longer a hundred% particular get a qualified electrician, undesirable/ inncorrect living house wiring may well be deadly. For a plug (flex) Brown = stay (regularly fused), blue = independent, green/yellow = Earth. in case you shrink an previous plug desirable suited off take out the fuse - this way is somebody plugs it in to a socket they gained't be uncovered to stay mains.

Wires are evil by nature. Think about wire the wire hangers in your closet. The tangle together and fight much the same way that electrical wires do.

I buy wooden coat hangers now. I'm about to replace the wires on my electronics with wooden ones as well.

Every year I put my Christmas lights away neatly folded and the next year I take them out and they are all tangled and twisted together. That happens to me with all my stuff.

Hmmm, trying to control everything, even wires, you will never get things JUST how you want them. I bet you have an addictive personality, maybe an alcoholic. I get in a fuss over the small things in life too.

It has been like that since the beginning of times. The gov. won't protect us, we can only hope for the best.

omg I've so been meaning to post about this. All I have to do is take off my iPod ear-phones (just take them off!) and they are completely tangled. It doesn't make any sense!
