what is the probable result of the reaction between magnesium metal and benzoic acid? why does this occur?

A very slow reaction:

Mg + 2 C6H5COOH -----> (C6H5COO)2Mg + H2

Benzoic acid is a weak acid, and is not very soluble either, so there are very few H+ ions for the Mg to react with.
