I have a Intel(R) 82845G/GL Graphics controller and i was wondering if anyone knew why the color is only 32bit i was hoping to get it to 256? or something higher. please help

256 is 8-bit (2 to the 8th power).

32-bit is MILLIONS of colors.

It's already MUCH better than you've expected.

Ever trying turning the # of bits DOWN? Guess not.

...32 bit color is plenty high. it consists of over 16.7 million distinct shades. a 256-bit colorspace doesnt exist (yet.) you're probably confusing color depth with memory bus bandwidth (from a video card) which gan easily surpass 256-bit, but that's data transfer rate, not color depth. if you're absolutely convinced that you need higher than 32 bit color, go look for a high-end ati firegl workstation card. should run you about $700-800, and the v7350 can hit 64-bit colorspace, but i'm positive you won't need one, unless you work at pixar. which you don't, because you'd already have multiple firegl cards. your intel chipset will NOT be the greatest gaming hardware, which i assume you're planning to be doing. read the link on color depth, and go buy an actual video card if you plan to be gaming.
