it, gets all the money back and never tells A about it...is this a crime, if so what is it called? If this were to go to court, would it be a criminal or a civil trial?

Theft by deception. If A presses criminal charges, B might be convicted. If A files suit to get the money back, B might have to pay. So it is a criminal offense and a civil wrong.

Its a crime. Its called swindling, or estafa in some countries. There will be criminal proceedings if it goes to court.

Estafa or swindling was the crime committed and B could be imprisoned for more or less six months if found guilty by the court.
