First, I think one would need to find a consensus on the first part, "like the Romans did"... good luck with that, historians are still debating when the Roman Empire ended.
Second, short of paying taxes and death, the fall of the US is about as assured as one can get, just as the next power with follow the life-cycle we have seen throughout history. Many suggest then US is not an Empire, in doing so, the definition of Empire is reduced. I would argue that "Manifest Destiny" and the Monroe Doctrine were very "Empire-esque". Closer to present, we can look at cold war practices, specifically the school of the Americas to see our political tendencies and how they resemble that of an empire.

I doubt it. The Roman Empire was destroyed by a series of terrible leaders that made a lot of bad decisions. Their warrior-esque culture was ultimately their downfall. The Romans fought wars to conquer the people, not to free them as the U.S. does. Besides, the U.S. isn't an empire, it is a Representative democracy, meaning it can't "fall". It can however, turn into a tyrannical dictatorship or a communism, each of which can fall just as the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany.

YES the US will fall like the Romans did, but the big difference is that the people who have profited from all this corruption will just move on to the next country i.e. China or India. The corruption in ancient Rome was primarily driven by overindulgence and personal immorality where as in the US it is a well designed program of corporate greed which will be sustainable in new unregulated markets.

I think it will be worse than that. Rome was not dependant on fossil fuels. Life could continue after 456 AD and beyond for an average person depsite the turmoil and the following dark ages. We are in for a very rough ride in the latter half of the 21st Century.

if we take a look back at history it is evident that all empires regardless of how big, strong or longlasting they were they all had their glorious rise, their golden years and eventually their fall!
Thus it would be only logical for someone to assume that the US will be no exception, now on when that will happen nobody can be presice!
One thing is for sure the next empire will be as imperialistic as this one or as all the previous ones for that matter!
but hey keep on hoping that someday all this might change at least i still do...the idealist in me does!

If you lasted for ever you would be the first super power to do it. Who knows when your reign will end but end it will someday. Lets hope it is relatively as quiet and peace full as the end of Russia or the British Empire. That is that both survived their demise.

Yes. This generation running this country now is a bunch of wussies. The slightest sign of anything difficult or if it can't be over in a month they want to quit , retreat, and call it a lost cause.
The Babyboomer generation cried so much about Vietnam that they made it a no win situation. Guess what? History repeats itself. Loser Generation.
