Ignore them, They will eventually come around and know that they hurt you and do something to make up for it if not don't worry about it you walk away being the bigger person.

people CAN change but they have to have a reason for that change and it isn't easy. My S.O. was not the type to apologize for his actions ever. While growing up he was never held accountable . I did it with talking -caring and understanding sometimes and cold and heartless others. It's still hard coming(an apology that is) sometimes but he does try. When he does, I like celebrate inside but express it in a "rational" way by telling him I appreciate his efforts and I'm proud of him.No matter what the age, people always like to be appreciated. Good luck and "I'm sorry" if it doesn't work out.

I don't know about people who lose their cool, but the proud people who won't say sorry that i know of have overlarge egos and calmly and fluently criticize me, their excuse either being that they're helping me or that i deserve it.

I personally try my best to prove they're wrong. Trying this several times will work. They will accept. But don't try to be stubborn like them. Have an open mind and prove their wrong with calm and documented answers.
