survivor, american idol, that pirate thing, Iw ould be ashame of watching it and ashamed that i i know people who buy into this stuff. I hate tv and iam done with it now, its taking over by complete idiots with no creative sense, and anyone who watches these programs pledges alot against creative fiction series's out there. I really feel bad for the kids who watch this and victimise themselves to this garbage ( i know people that wont even watch a single star wars movie because its simply not a reality show and it doesnt have any hot actors in it) if you watch these shows try not to , boycott them so that some people with an imagination may breed. I truly am poed at myslef for watching a single episode of these programs. get some of them off the air.

American Idol is not a reality show. It's a game show. Reality shows (in the true sense) deal with people interacting on a real level. Survivor is more about how the contestants deal with each other.

Rent 'Colonial House,' the original reality show. This is what it's all about.

I really dislike reality shows (and tv in general), because it focuses on the lowest common denominator.

The reason people like reality tv is because it makes them feel better about THEMSELVES. Seeing someone else really screw up ON TELEVISION means the viewer can think "omg! I would NEVER do that on tv... so I must be a much better person than THAT person". AND, the reason they WANT to be on reality tv? Either they are a wanna be actor, OR, they think that they can show how much better they are than OTHER REALITY CONTESTANTS. What they don't realize is that reality shows are cut for DRAMA! Which means even if a contestant IS a good, nice person, they will be shown on the air at their worst moments..... Which is exactly what viewers want to see so they can feel better about themselves. It's a vicious cycle. And there wouldn't be any reality shows if people didn't watch them, so if you really hate them, turn off the tv... read a book instead, or go do something outside, hang with friends... something that's really REAL.

Boycott reality tv shows so that people with imagination can breed? Dude, people with imagination are already selective about what kinds of shows they watch. So they may have more time to, as you say, breed. Unless they are spending their time writing fanfiction for the handful of awesome shows that they do watch. that's ok, though, because they will find their true loves online and be able to breed with other intelligent, imaginative people. But the more crappy reality-tv shows there are, the more the unimaginative people are too busy watching tv to have the time to breed, that's a good thing, and will inevitably improve the breeding stock of the human race.

Gotta say, though, that not all "reality" shows are created equal. Dancing with the Stars is excellent because it is exposing audiences to a form of art that deserves to be appreciated by the masses. It is also inspiring many people to go out and take ballroom dance lessons, thereby increasing their activity levels as well as getting them involved in the arts.

And there are also shows like clean Sweep, and all those decorating shows - those help me see that I can make my house more comfortable and stylish, to get creative and use my imagination to get the looks I want.

Little People, Big World - there's another one that is awesome for showing how a family with physical challenges deals with those challenges. I think the way that family come together to make a good life for themselves can do a lot to show constructive ways of dealing with life's challenges. considering how many people do not get to learn that in their own families, getting to see one family succeed may help others grow beyond their dysfunctions.

I don't think reality shows are as bad as you make them seem. Still, if someone doesn't watch a blockbuster movie simply because it's not a reality show and/or has no hot actors/actresses in it, then I draw the line.

Everything is entertaining one way or another. It's a matter of learning to understand the appeal of different things, even if you don't necessarily enjoy them.

Could not stand em all from Day One.

Many people seem to know that they're not "reality" at all & still watch em. They're all staged bs.

I cannot WAIT 'til they all die down....Same w/ Idol.
