There is some overlap on this, however -

Boat:
A vessel propelled by hand, sail, or engine (other than steam), under 65 feet.
A small vessel used to travel on the water, powered by either wind, power or oars. Also any small vessel carried on a larger ship.
Any type of small craft on the inland waterways. Normally less than 7 foot beam.
A small, open craft without any deck.

Ship:
A ship is a large, sea-going watercraft. Except sometimes, in ancient use, it is decked. A ship usually has sufficient size to carry its own boats, such as lifeboats, dinghies, or runabouts. A rule of thumb saying (though it doesn't always apply) goes: "a boat can fit on a ship, but a ship can't fit on a boat." Often local law and regulation will define the exact size (or the number of masts) which a boat requires to become a ship. (Note that one refers to submarines as "boats"). ...
A seagoing vessel greater than 150' in length. Used for luxury cruises, import and export.
A vessel with three or more masts with square sails on each, often exceeding 500 tons.

remember it this way: if a ship and a boat collide, the boat will sink coz the ship is bigger. So that not to confuse you, i will not mention the Yacht.

Oops, i did mention it.

The boat is a small piece of wood shaped to cut through water whilst travelling ahead. It is powered by rowing or by the tidal movement. Motor boats are powered By a motor engine.
Ships are those huge set of metals that are mainly a super-enlarged boat. They carry cargo, people and goods across oceans and huge seas. They are powered by powerful engines, that produce upto 4,50,000bhp.
cruises are luxury ships.
Why did you ask by the way?
