sometimes i wake up and as soon as i do a song is stuck in my head....why is this so?

I always do and I thought I was the only one! It must be the dream you had. It's like watching a film and you got a song in the end.

It is not generally accepted in Psychology, but some call it the "Last Song Syndrome" or LSS. You may even find it funny how a song got stuck in your head in the first place, especially if you don't like it or you think you did not hear it. Our subconscious picks up a lot from our environment though. The song may have been in the background somewhere, the tune was catchy, or anything like that. Most of the time, when you become aware of it in your head, it seems that the more you wanna get rid of it, the harder it gets. It could be because from the subconscious you now drew it to your conscious, and every sense in your being knows about it and the feeling, etc it now entails. If you wanna let go of the song, busy yourself with something else, try not to think about it, or even hum/sing/listen to another tune. Goodluck.

yeah i do. sometimes its a song that was playing a bit before i slept or one i dreamt was playing in the background. and sometimes its because the radio station played it 20 times in 10 hours...

i don't know. that happens to me all the time. a lot of times to songs i don't listen to often. it happens every morning.
