Intel motherboard is better than Gigabyte motherboard....

A chipset is a group of integrated circuits ("chips") that are designed to work together, and are usually marketed as a single product.

In computing, the term chipset is commonly used to refer to a set of specialized chips on a computer's motherboard or an expansion card. In personal computers (PCs) based on recent Intel Pentium-class microprocessors, the term often refers to a specific pair of chips on the motherboard: the northbridge and the southbridge.

Please be careful of whatever your planning to do with your computer.. if you don't know just leave it to the people who knows..

The Motherboard is the enormous merchandise onto which all different factors are plugged. CPU,memory, sockets for drives and exterior connectors. The chipset is a in-built characteristic of the Motherboard and is provided with the help of various makers at the same time with Intel, with the help of employing and so on. this with the Bios somewhat run the equipment and administration all different purposes - whilst finding out to purchase a Motherboard- to a given spec you don't get an selection- the chip set is in-built, its part of the equipment. I you examine the a definite chipset, isn't that writers selection- nicely its that writers opinion. relax certain if the board is on prevalent sale the chip set will do the organization, in any different case it wont have have been provided that far.

I'm going to assume,(yes I know make a.......of myself), that you're talking about that the salesman installed a Gigabyte motherboard. It depends on what version of Intel, and Gigabyte mobo we're talking about here, but Gigabyte mobo's are very overclocker friendly. I'll take a Gigabyte over any Intel.(Just my 2 cent's) Chipsets refer to the Northbridge, and Southbridge, 'google' to look up more detailed info about these, try Howstuffworks to start with. Check out Hardwaresecrets.com, and Sysopt.com You may find that the Gigabyte mobo you've got now is better, or at least comparable to your old mobo, it may just be a personal preference of your friends.
