Spotting is normal, but it should go away the longer your on the pill. About 2 or three months of being on the pill, you should not spot. You should have a regular cycle, same time every month.

Yes, it is normal to have some spotting when you first start out on birth control, but because you have been on the Nuva Ring for a time and this is starting now I would recommend getting in touch with your dr to find out what they think. It is possible that you could have an infection going on. Certain kinds of infection such as with the cervix can cause vaginal bleeding and spotting.

What did you switch to and from?
I was on Depo for 3years and didn't have a period! It was great! Not having to worry, the freedom, no pads to buy... oh, I forgot about the constant mood swings, depression and extreme weight gain... it was like being pregnant for 3years straight! Still recovering from side effects... but didn't get pregnant either! So it works.
Anyway, it's probably normal, read the side effects on the brochure and you should be ok. Worst case - call call doc for more info.
