Intent. However when you cast leadership as the relationship things change. Leadership means there is a preexisting relationship which nullifies the non-leader's integrity.

Walking with suggests an exchange of thoughts and actions benefiting both parties. Traditional leadership means you are the disciple, the follower no matter how it affects you.

The only valid leadership directs you to find rational (not rationalized) answers and by this self directed inquiry establish your own integrity and ability to influence others likewise.

Walking with someone ...anyone..... demands a greater understanading of things around us and within us. Normally we would think that walking with someone means "someone" wiser than us .

For all we know we could be walking with a set of children, some mentally challenged person.... someone who is not able to walk with you but YOU slow down and walk with them .

Following someone is the order of the day. There are so many asking you to follow them . Religion. Ideology. Money making. happiness you neame it. You surrender your individuality and simply follow blindly. Only to change one leader to another. It is an endless walk with no destination.

in the view of leadership... walking with someone is sharing ones view on things around you and sharing the responsibility not just of the leadership responsibility but responsibility of simply being in the group, this is more like walking on the same path of 'setting' an example for others to follow, not walking on the path following or copying the example set before you...

following someone is living up or looking up to the ideals of the leader and following his tracks of achievement and work attitude... this is more like idolatry... you tend to follow the example set before you....

leaders lead the group usually leaders are the captain, a guide they go before and show followers the way in which to walk. They direct and precede and followers follow they are what we call imitators or disciples but they never actually lead because they are tripple LLL Low Life Losers who lost his love with himself and others so he follows you to feel important

in that case i would say walking with someone is like working together to reach your destination (goal)

following someone would be having no idea what the goal or destination is but still working towards something. It could also mean that you are either lagging behind in work, or unable to work as a team.

When you walk with someone you are in unison and you can look them in the eye and be on their level. when you follow you are trying to be a follower of their beliefs and you esteem them or you would not follow their lead. Sheep will not follow another voice only the voice of the Shepherd.

When walking with someone you have equal say in the direction you take, when you follow, you accept their direction on direction.
