In the above site I have shortlisted 2 models one is for Inspiron 6400 with Intel® Core™ Duo Processor for HKD 5888 (US$ 755)
& the second one is Inspiron 6400 with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor: HKD 6688 (US$ 858).

The expensive one is with Core 2 Duo processor. What is the difference in core duo & core 2 duo processor. Which one to buy & should be value for money !

By the way, I need this notebook only for internet with wireless connectivity, photos, documents or sometimes for gaming.
Thanks for taking out time to read my lengthy question.

I would appreciate if computer experts highlight the other outstanding features, after comparing both the models. Thanks !!

Current aps dont really use the second core properly, but within a year, MANY will. Get the better one if you want to future proof your machine. The 6400 is NOT a gaming machine, but you can do casual gaming, get the est vid card they offer. For real gaming, alienware, XPS or voodoo but EITHER of th two machines are good for all other aps you mentioned and I must agree, for the average user, the 6400 is the best bang for the buck

Inspiron 6400 with Intel® Core™ Duo Processor for HKD 5888 (US$ 755) is good.

How much RAM is it in the laptops?
Video card?
That is game related.

XPS is a gaming pc.

I just bought my Dell. I have the Inspiron 1705 I paid $1288USD for it.

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz with 4MB cache with 667 FSB
2GB 667MHz RAM
80GB 7200RPM HDD
256 ATI Mobility X1400 256MB graphics card
8x DL DVD R/RW
17" widescreen
Wireless built in

It's not a power house but it's VERY nice. PLUS...it has 6 USB ports, firewire, SD card reader for your photos, DVI and VGA output from the back.
