what year did gm put the chips in the trucks that autamaticly turned off the vehicle after you got going so fast

They didn't put in a chip to shut the truck off, but installed a program that did rev limiting which effectively limited the top speed of the truck. It also cuts the injectors out if you rev the motor too high in park or neutral. I think they started in 1996 or thereabouts.

that started back in 1987 when they went to throllte body fuel injection
