If you want a reliable computer, do not get a tablet. Get a Dell, HP Notebook. The MOST important thing in any computer is the Memory. You want at least 2 GB, they don't normally sell them w/ this much, that's why Dell is good. You can customize it to get the max memory the machine can hold. It seems expensive about $100 per gig, but it's so worth it. Most people don't know this and it's the single most effective way to make sure you have a reliable computer.

Dell is offering this one:

Free 2 GB Ram

Inspiron 1501
Built by You

Upgrade to:
AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50 [add $50 or $1/month1]

For around $600 you have a good machine. DO NOT BUY any protection plan from Dell. It's like pulling teeth to get them to fix anything when you do have a problem. It's better to just take it to get fixed and pay...

Tablets have touch screens which bumps up the price and you have no use for one (you can type as fast as you can write on a tablet).
You don't really need anything that high tech to mix music just get a laptop with a massive HDD (alienware have a 17" with half a terabyte of storage).
Everything in the list above is good plus asus, rock direct and alienware.
EDIT; never buy dells own memory search for it a crucial first, it will be at half the price.

Tablets are more for businesses and they are EXTEMELY fragile. If you get one you should buy accidnetal damage policy and make sure you keep your data backed up EVERY day. That said, they are very convenient.

If you mix and burn, I'd get alien XPS or voodo
