i dont know this from my own doing but i know how one other person does it. They always interupt the other person and speak loudly and try to get their point across in a very direct even overbearing way. They always shift blame to the other persons argument being wrong. This is the dirty way. As far as conversing with intelligent people, you just have to speak in a clear direct manner and get your point across, they are more open minded.
If youre very passionate about it it helps sometimes. But I think its more of an inborn thing. You are either born with a more relaxed non argumentative personality or you are born with a more bossy type of demeanor or one can develop into that kind of person over the years. It depends who you are arguing with. If you think you can win over the person you usually can.
Let me make this one clear, if youre an idiot and you think speaking louder will improve your chances of winning the argument, youre wrong. A quiet smarter person can win over the idiot. The idiot just puffs himself up to make himself feel bigger but hes really small and cant offer anything to win the argument because he lacks the intelligence, you have to have a mix of cunning, resolve and determination.
The forceful louder personality can maybe get what they want in the moment because they command attention, temporarily but the intelligent quiet one will usually speak sensibly and also get their point across.

You will win an argument when in this way:
Do not interrupt your opponent while expressing his points of view. When he finishes just say 'I truly understand you, but my opinion is just the opposite of yours' and do not concretes it. In this way you will not reveal details of your disagreement and your opponent will not have enough information upon which he will be able to continue the debate and expressing his ideas. This way the last (and strongest opinion) will be yours and you will let anyone knows that your opponent's argument is not strong enough to convince you.

I start talking really loud and my voice ends up getting high pitched and going around and around never really making my point, but putting down the other persons point until they feel so bad about feeling the way they do they hand the argument to me.

Do you want to win, or do you want to be right?
1. In any conflict between two men (or two groups) who hold the same basic principles, it is the more consistent one who wins.
2. In any collaboration between two men (or two groups) who hold different basic principles, it is the more evil or irrational one who wins.
3. When opposite basic principles are clearly and openly defined, it works to the advantage of the rational side; when they are not clearly defined, but are hidden or evaded, it works to the advantage of the irrational side.
If you want to win, use any means at your disposal, IE cheat. Anything mentioned above is valid, lie, intimidate, obfuscate, prevaricate, equivocate etc...
If you want to be right, listen carefully and if the other side is correct, agree with them...

Arguments are based on assumptions.Logic may be correct relative to the assumption, but assumptions may be wrong.try to identify the assumptions and prove the assumptions are wrong.then automatically his or her argument is wrong.
