How do I connect my old school Dell to my new Samsung HDTV to watch my monitor on the Tele?

I have an old school Dell computer. Dell Dimension 4100 to be exact... It has a 120 GB extra hard drive on it, plus a high speed internet connection... So basically, what I'm saying, is that it gets the job done. I have a less then one year old Samsung HDTV, and it has HDMI outputs, S-Video output, Y-P- whatver the smurf it is outputs, basically everything you need.... I want my PC monitor to display on the TV. I know I need to get a video card, plus a cord, I got a buddy that is going to hook it all up, I just want to know what people recommend. My computer is definitely not HD, my TV definitely is, and I want something that will optimize the potential between the two... I want to be able to watch my computer movies on my TV... I will either be shopping at Best Buy, or Fry's Electronics (I live in AZ), or on the internet, depending on the responses I get. Hooking non-hdtv source material to a hdtv will NOT give you a better pictue. In fact, it will look worse because your hdtv will show off the difference in quality more. Just hook your old computer to a halfway decent monitor using vga. Any dvd player will look better on your hdtv than ANY computer because the computer uses software decoding instead of hardware decoding. Also most dvd players are now progressive scan.

If you insist on using your computer , and there are good reasons like using your puter as a dvr, get a better vid card, you can output to dvi-D and go to the dvi in on the samsung. Use your sound card outputs to a reciever or direct intt the tv. Converting to hdmi will NOT increase the quality of your picture, it will actually degrade (almost immeasureably, but in a lab you might see a difference on a scope)throught he conversion process. The only advantage to hdmi vs dvi currently is one cable vs multi cable. Later as hdmi 1.3 becomes more accepted (its already ratified) thee will be copy protection issues.
