Firstly, you haven't screwed up your life at all. Your life has barely started! You need to go back in time and understand why you lost interest in your studies. Then you need to evaluate what you really want as far as your goals in life are concerned. Be realistic with your goals. Finally, plan your life from now on in a step by step way - month to month.
Trust me, the worst thing you can do is compare yoursef to your friends. They are different people with different goals and lifestyles. A college degree always helps later on in life. I would advice you to carry on with it, but whole heartedly. Don't waste it! However, if you feel that you'd rather get some work experience, take a break from studies and pursue your degree later. Even better would be to work part-time and pursue your degree through an evening class or distance learning.
Don't get depressed! You are who you are and if you give each day and each task everything you have, there's no reason why you won't succeed later. Start from a clean slate. Tomorrow is a new day!
Good luck!

Hey come on,
If you think about it you're not so screwed after all, you messed up a little but you already realized that things need to change, so you're back on the right track!!!
I suggest that you go back to school and show everyone that loves you what a wonderful person you are. The degree you get in your near future will mean even more to you, and your friends and family because you were able to correct what you needed to correct.
I think this is a great opportunity for you to learn from this experience... I assure you that you'll success next time you go back to school since you already know what you're supposed to do and not do...
One of my best friends when through this sort of situation. He barely passed High School because he was lazy and started doing drugs... but one day he realized that that wasn't for him. He went back to school and now almost done with his degree. I'm very proud of him!
People like me get inspired by people like you, people that are able to get back the rein of their live and be successful in whatever they do!
Now what are you waiting for? Go register for Fall!
Take care and good luck!

A degree is the best investment you can make for yourself, especially given today's job market.
Consider the cost of an education as averaging 100k, but your average salary goes from 26k to 43k a year (according to the source below). If you work 30 years until retirement, that's over a 400% return on your investment--which you can't shake a stick at with conventional investments.
Nerdery aside, I know it's discouraging once the low grades tack on. College requires more effort and self-control than you're putting out. My advice is to suck it up, buckle down, and get your degree; you'll thank yourself for years to come.

You have all the time in the world.
Serious... if you don't get your degree now then get it next year or whenever.
THIS IS NOT A RACE... life is not a race... there is no prize at the end.
Life gives you the prise at the beginning and the prise is YOUTH... enjoy it.
You have all the time in the world... trust me, you did't screw up anything.
Just relax and make a list of what you need to do and do it, but do other things and enjoy being young... you have the rest of your life for studies and a job... just enjoy !!!

You are in luck. Society today doesn't necessarily award the hardest working person. Political correctness has provided wonderful opportunities for underqualified people in education and the job market. So, as long you aren't a white male, you'll have no problems.

I have the same problems, after being praised , i developed a lax attitude towards everything and began a horrible spiral into slacker status, but you have to motivate yourself, set aside time to do educational, things but incorporate some things that interest you such as music or make a game out of it.... I hope i was of help

Education isn't the be all and end all, if you want to do it then do it, if you want to do something else then have a think about what you want, why not go travelling or join the army you can get education and travell at the same time as well as getting paid for it.
