i'd stay away from celebrities and other entertainment personalities since they're obvious and uninteresting examples. Politicians are ok though. As for myself, I have a bias for brainy scientists.

Rosalind Franklin helped discover the structure of DNA.
Rachel Carson wrote "Silent Spring" and launched the environmental movement.
Ada Lovelace was the first computer programmer.
Author Beatrix Potter was also an accomplished mycologist.
Lise Meitner helped discover nuclear fission.
The three Bronte sisters faced incredible advesity and wrote excellent books.
Jane Austen wrote the great book Pride and Prejudice.
Carly Fiorina was the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.

Hope that helps.

Good luck.

Any of the president's wives or mothers would work for your essay, Mother Teresa is an obvious choice, as is England's royals, I would go back in history more, a good one would be Abe Lincoln's mother - I believe in some of his speeches, he credits her with who he became.
