For every seemingly positive their are at least 10 other negative traits as well. And no ,I really do not believe most 'aspies' are pontential Einsteins.I actually think of them as rather stupid in the general I.Q. way too.

Do you have Aspergers syndrome?

Either way stop dwelling or harping on Aspergers syndrome, and how horrible it is.

If you have Aspergers why not prove to people you are very capable to do anything you set your mind too.

If you don't, then stop putting people down and learn more about what Autism is, of which Aspergers is one of many conditions that come under Autism spectrum.

Having read some of you questions, my observation is that you are very unhappy with your life. I hope that somehow, you find some peace with yourself.

Regarding your question, you are assuming that 'aspies' out there allow themselves to think their disability is a good thing. Personally, I have never met any "aspies" who see it as a good thing. They struggle with their "disability" (their inability to fit in society or their inability to see the world like the rest of ordinary people) EVERYDAY. And believe me - I have met quite a few.

And NO, most aspies ARE NOT potential Einsteins. The media sometimes gives a false impression that they are - but people who know better know that this is not true.

"I actually think of them as rather stupid in the general I.Q. way too." - Are you then saying that YOU are also stupid? NO ONE and NO ONE here has said that you are stupid. IQ may be one measure of intelligence but to live a normal and happy life is NOT dependent on IQ alone.

Yes, there are negative traits about being an "aspie" But then, there are negative about being Asian or black in a white society, being a child in an adult world, being an aged person is a world focusing on the beauty of the young etc...

I have a very good friend who is dying of an incurable degenerative disease. Everyday - he KNOWS he is dying a little bit more. HE DOES NOT lilke it, but he is still alive and is living his life. I am 1000% more healthy than he is - but I could get hit by a drunk driver and die tomorrow. Life is uncertain - enjoy it while you are here.

Enjoy life! YOU have a condition which is considered a disability - but ONLY YOU can make your life happen. You can sit here and be angry with the world but the world is not angry with you. It will just pass you by. ONLY you can get up and get on with it.

Cheers.

Do you know how hard it is to have Aspergers? No? Then don't speak.
Imagine talking to somebody you just met. Imagine having your eyes and ears closed and trying to have a normal conversation with people. Not understand that hand movement means that you're being annoying or that face expression means that they don't want to be friend. You live that for everyday of your life, and you tell me that I only speak postively. I hate myself some days, and sometimes I wish I was 'normal'. But if normal means that I have to become somebody as ignorant as you, I never EVER want to be normal.
I have Asperger's myself, and I go to a special Arts school for writing. Out of 300 people who tried out, only 25 got in. Do you think I'm stupid? I have a 70 average. Just because I have Apsergers, it doesn't mean I have a 190 IQ, am stupid, am any other type of dumb stereotype you can think of. Please try to understand that we can't help being like this, and the only thing we can do is to stand strong and support each other. If you have a probelm with that, fine. But I don't, and I find it annoying that you have to insult people to state your point.
Anyway, better stop myself before I get any angrier. Good luck with life, you'll need it.

I guess it's how aspies look at it. Perhaps some look more at the benefits of it than the negatives. Having Asperger's can be compared to having an extremely male brain. http://www.sciencedaily.com/upi/index.php?feed=Science&article=UPI-1-20070209-16044000-bc-pedmed-autismresearch-18.xml
So, if you look at it that being a guy can sometimes be a good thing, you might be able to see where some Aspies think of their condition as a good thing. Think about the positives instead of the negatives.

You don't even know what you're talking about. I have asperger, and people say I'm smart. A lot of people with aspergers seem to be smart from what I heard. That's why asperger's is HIGH FUNCTIONING autism. Sometimes it's not easy having asperger's. Maybe I have some problems, but it doesn't mean I'm stupid. Maybe you should just shut your stupid mouth about it from now on.

Well I bet Bill Gates could give you a million reason$ as to why he has some awesome abilities.
Or maybe Temple Grandin...you can thank her next time you eat a hamburger.
Of course you probably have no clue as to what I am talking about because you really have no clue about Aspergers in general.

Most persons with disabilities have learned to reject the stereotyping of ignorant bigots who try to define us as having "low IQs," being "damaged goods" and safe targets for abuse and discrimination.
