ok exactly what the hell is "that"? what is he talking about because everyone i've talked to has no idea what "that" really is or means. everyone likes the song but they do not know what he means when he says "i'll do anything for love but i won't do that".

He's never said what he meant by it, but I always thought it implied sexual masochism. The video for the song supports that. But I think his point is for each listener to decide for themselves. Just to ponder that thought, like, "Gee, where would I draw the line?"

Basically it's a song about sex, passion and fidelity - he won't give up those things for love.
