I need to network 2 home computers and I thought I had used this cable to do so the last time I did it . This time though I cant seem to make it work. I checked for line breaks ect. did the home networking wizard enabled file sharing ... is this the wrong cable?

You need a crossover cable or you need a "hub" That matches the "send" to the "recieve" and vice versa

You need a cross-over cable to connect the machines direct, this cable is a standard cable and only works pc to switch or hub.
