The big deal is that it completely revolutionized the concepts of space, time and gravity. None of what we experience is real, it is only because we move at low velocities compared to light that we cannot see the nature of the world as it really is. The theories of relativity exposed those true natures.

The biggest factor was how all mass is derived from energy (light) and that you can calculate the amount of energy is stored in an object. It also laid this in an equation that others could use to build their own compounding theories.

Besides being a work of genius that allows us to explain the workings of many things that can not be explained any other way, how about the nuclear bomb. That should be big enough for you.
