pop or soda?

why do you call it pop or soda???

I called it pop for many years.
My sister-n-law from St Louis, always gave me a hard time when I said that. So now in most part I say soda.

Or I just say Dr. Pepper, that is what I drink.

I call it soda 'cause I grew up in New Jersey where they call it that. I now live in Indiana where they call it pop and it just sounds weird. Especially when I first moved here and brought some soda at a store and the clerk asked me if I wanted my pop in a sack? Where I'm from "pop" and "sack" mean 2 different things. I gave her a strange look and then realized that she didn't mean what I thought she meant. Cultural differences.

Pop....The very first "Soda pop" was called that because the bottle was sealed with a marble and you had to use your thumb to "pop" the marble in so you could drink your soda!!...Isn't that cool?!...I just recently saw one of the bottles for the first time..Apparently not too many survived because the kids would smash them to get the marble out!

Since I have friends who speak it both ways I say soda pop...but I originally said soda.

When I lived up north it was pop...now live in the south and is is soda...or Coke (orange Coke, Root Beer Coke, etc). My brother on the east coast calls it soda pop.

Coke , Mountain dew , Dr pepper . Pop or soda must be a northern thing . Here in the south everyone just says , coke .

DePENDS ON WHAT PART OF THE COUNTRY YOU LIVE IN. i LIVED IN Michigan for many years and they called pop I moved to NYC and they call it Soda.
