Research "Vlad the impaler' That is who Dracula was based on. He had one heck of a fight in him with the Turks (if I remember correctly)
Vampirism is also found in old legends of
a) women drinking the blood of virgins to stay young
b) Drinking to blood of an enemy for strength and power
c) from bats and other animals drinking blood
The idea of vampirism has been around for thousands of years and has changed over time.

That's the beauty of writing about vampires!!! you can write whatever you want and it'll be true!
I have read many books on vampires. and all the legends and myths go according to what the author thinks.
In one book vampires hate crosses, in another, crosses don't do anything. In one book the can't eat garlic, in another garlic is never even mentioned!
Just go with it!

Hello honey, NO ONE has any REAL information on vampires as there is NO SUCH THING. Which is why any books about them are in the fiction section of the library. If this is you writing, then do what other authors before you have done, create your own world, define what vampires are and their attributes, yourself, it makes writing so much more fun because it truly is your creation. i real a book once and it said that vampires were thought to be real back in the days but it was only because a guy opened up a grave of another guy for some reason and he was bleeding from various holes in his body (i think it was his eyes and mouth can't remember) and that his fingernails had fallen off and had regrown or something. they thought he was the first vampire (i think he was wog *no offence*) but i think that it was later found that this is normal or something
there was another instance in europe later on that some rich lady bathed in the blood of young girls from the streets to keep her young. they were supposed to be recieving jobs as maids but they were decapitated. the authorities found out and killed the servants who did this and arrested the lady who died in prison.
freaky huh?
an actual fact though is that vampires only nick the skin of ur neck and lap up the blood not suck it through their teeth like some people think

depends on what you mean.
Vampys do exist. Some exist only in our minds, others walks the streets with us daily (and yes, DAilY).
"Real" vamps are/were attackers who hunt down people, cut them, drink the blood from the wound and be done. Some would also rape, torture, and/or kill the victim.
In folklore you can either look back to Lilith from Hebrew mythology or even more "recently" to Vlad the Impaler. I got ALOT of info from Wikipedia along with site directed from there. Check it out and enjoy

there is no "real" information. you can make up whatever you want to because they are fictional. you can make them part lizard if you want to because it is all about what you want them to be.
