Poor girl, Don't worry it'll happen any time. Epidural are very nice! Hopefully yours will work. Mine worked on half my body So I pretty much felt alot of labor. It is pain full. Just remember to breath and not scream that waste alot of energy just focus on breathing. Before you know it you'll have your baby in your arms and barley remember the pain. Good luck to you.

Hiya,

i guess the baby will just come when its ready and not before. Both my boys were a week overdue, which was a nightmare. With my first i was in slow labour for a week . Then i had to be induced in the end to finsh up. I have heard somewhere that eating a whole fresh pineapple can help bring on labour and i know of a few women that swear by it. I can understand that you are uncomftable and you want it all to be over but i guess the baby isn't ready just yet. It will take longer if this is your first baby. I guess it shouldn't be too long now as you have said you have already started to dilate. I think the best thing you can do is relax and enjoy the peace, while it lasts lol.

I guess the thing i would have like to have known before i went it to labour was how bloody painfull it was gonna be!!.

Good luck and i hope it will all be over for you soon.

Hey,
Don't count on getting an epi I did and didn't happen bubs came to fast!
Don't make any set plans for labour because when it actually happens not everything goes to plan...
Jus let your body do the work.
Do whatever makes you comfortable and walk if you want to walk lay down if you want don't let anyone tell you what to do.

With staying busy maybe get a massage for head and shouldars one day, then in a few days maybe a foot rub and pedi, then the next week get a manicure and that week maybe get a back massage also...
Try going over the baby's things again and making sure you have everything!
Maybe try going swimming it's really awesome swimming while pregnant, and not to mention relaxing.
Try to have as many relaxing baths as you can becuase that can sometimes bring on labour.
Maybe get some DVDs and watch them have a good crying movie or a laughing one heard a few people went into labour laughing and crying...
Also at your 39week appiontment get your doctor to strip your membranes, had mine done at 39weeks and he was born 15hrs later!
Of a night after a bath or shower get your partner to give you a rough foot rub...
Feels good and there are ment to be pressure points on the feet that can trigger labour...
And thats something that you can do each night.

Maybe try moving some furniture around thats put some people into labour.
Maybe try some relaxing time in the garden just sitting there weeding or whatever...

I don't know what put me into labour but I had been eating peperoni all day for about three days before he was born.

Just try and enjoy these last few days of pregnancy and deffinatly enjoy labour!

Good Luck

Well, with my first child sex worked for me within a few hours.I was in labor for 18 hrs.Your body will only let you feel so much pain and you will feel pain but as soon as its over you forget of all the pain you were just having and if your able to have a vaginal birth,no c-section then your really lucky to experience the feeling of your baby coming into this world. My best friend had three c-sections and she was upset to not be able to feel what its like to have her baby the way she thought it would be,but that's ok as long as its healthy. With my second child I was only in labor four hours and my husband and I were playing cards in the hospital room and I was waiting to get the epidural. The nurses kept asking are you sure you want it and I was like,OH YES! I was so afraid to get to that point of pain that I had when I was in labor with my son that there was no way I was saying no.My daughter came so quick that they had just put the epidural in and she was out before I could even feel it working ,so I wish I wouldn't have gotten the epidural that time.Oh,and I was over a week late with her ,so I was scheduled to be induced and I just felt in my heart that she was supposed to have the birthday that God intended for her to have and there were no risk involved on waiting for her to come on her own , so I canceled and a half an hour after I would have been induced I went into labor anyway on my own,so I'm glad I waited because I never would have known that she would have been born on that day after all.If this is your first baby I'm sure you probably won't change your mind about getting the epidural, but you should try to hang in there because its scarry getting that needle but into your spine especially when you have to stay still and your in the middle of a contraction.I'm pregnant with my third and I'm not getting the epidural this time.Good luck and know it will all be over soon and you'll be home with your baby.Treasure this experience and your baby its a wonderful thing.Love, Shandee

I'm sorry and I know how you feel. I will be 40 weeks Tues. and they are going to induce me if no baby by then. When I went to the DR wed I tried everything to get them to induce me but they wouldn't. I've tried everything too, and nothing has worked. I give up, I know he'll be here soon enough and I'm accepting that. I also want to have this baby on a weekend so it will be easier for my other kids and my husband is off work, but I'm sure that won't happen. Nothing in pregnancy goes the way you think it should. I keep doing squats, I've heard that can bring on labor, and trying really hard not to lay down when I rest, I sit straight up and put my feet up, and sit on the edge of the chair every time I'm on the computer, anything to get this baby going. My kitchen floor is shining and you could eat off the bathroom floor. Every time someone in my house changes clothes, I do a load of laundry, it's getting crazy. Hang in there and know you are not alone.

Let me see I have heard that eating fresh pineapple will make you go into labor try that. Yes I am serious I know it sounds silly but worth a try.

Wow as far as labor goes just remember when you have those contractions that its all worth it and will be over soon and you will be holding a beautiful little baby when I had my son I had no pain meds and every time I had a contraction that thought was the only thing that kept me sane at times. Also remember your in control ask lots of questions make sure you understand everything and if you dont want something tell them its your body and your baby and you do have a say.

Try reading some books, or doing a puzzle, or starting to make a scrap book for baby...what kinds of things do you enjoy doing? If you have access a pool is lovely, swimming and even just floating feels nice.

My best friend drank black cohosh tea...had the baby within 24 hours. I have heard midwives use it successfully but I would do some research before I took anything that I wasn't sure of.

Practice meditation, yoga, relaxation. Even with the epidural you can still feel some of the pain. If you can coax your body to relax the labor with be more productive and less painful.

Get up in the morning have a whole grain and fruit rich breakfast. Oatmeal and blueberry's or strawberry's for me with my daughter. Take a long walk as fast as you can without breathing heavy for about 1 hour if you can tolerate it. Come home, have sex and for god's sake enjoy it to the fullest because after the baby you may not enjoy it for quite a while. Then have a green salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. If you are still pregnant at dinner time have some spicy buffalo wings or quite frankly anythings spicy at all that you enjoy.

Within 24 hrs if you baby is ready to meet you then your real labor will begin.

I did one without and one with the epidural and for the next one I will definitely have it again.

Good love and god bless you!!!!!!!

First of all, congrats! Second, get as much sleep as you can now, and make sure you have everything ready. Take a picture of your belly in profile the day you go into the hospital, I forgot and still regret it. Also, don't let them give you the epidural too soon, it can slow down labor. Try to relax and ask them to hand the baby to you as soon as it's born. Take lots of pictures of the little one and don't stress.

I actually had the opposite problem. My husband was in the Army and he was in Korea scheduled to come to the U.S. for the birth, so I needed my son to stay in as long as possible to give my husband time to come. We knew that as soon as he arrived, that we would have to get to work on inducing my labor. We were told sex (but it's not the sex, but the semen that makes you go into labor), walking, and squating would all help. My mom said that she would skip around the house and that it worked for her. Everyone is different though. My son couldn't hold on and was born before my husband arrived. lol. Enjoy every minute!
