where can I update my codecs?

Question

trying to play a dvd in nero showtime and I get all kinds of little black dots jumping around distoring my picture.

I don't think its nero, my drive, or my video card. All have worked perfectly in almost every sense..

I might have a problem with firmware or codecs, since these have been updated sometime ago.

where can I get a nice bundle of codecs for dvd viewing in nero?
and do you think thats the problem?
