I am trying to find out a species of snake I found in Roberts mountain in Nevada near Eureka. It looked like a western rattlesnake but it didn't have a rattle and the eyes were not elliptical. Please cite your references. Thanks so much

They can stay in Nevada.
The onlything I saw worse was a Fla diamondback. It looked likea fire hose with rattles.

Sounds to me like it was a bull snake, aka gopher snake. Pic on this website ==>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Snake
