Asians, on average, are a little shorter than your average American, so they probably can't help but look down on them...

I think that you watch talk shows too much. You know that they put crazy people on these shows just to get people to watch.
Most American are neutral toward Asians. If anything, Asians are normally perceived as nerds who study too much, and who are hard workers who cannot relax.
Just avoid poor neighborhoods -- especially if you are wearing foreign looking clothing (tourists = money).
===edit===
This video should explain the problems that Asians have in America.

I am not, not ALL Americans are racist, go to College in Bay Area or Seattle, that way there is a huge Asian population and you will be more accepted. To generalize, I think some Asian women are very pretty and kind, some great Spirituality and philosophy, great respect for parents and so forth, hard workers......

i hit upon that this is any incorrect way round. i'm eastern and German, yet i become born in California and that i look as a rule eastern. My adventure has been with different Asian those who're no longer born the following. quite eastern people at the same time as they locate out that i do not communicate eastern. they look offended. So i wager there will be prejudices on both part.

I've never met anyone who looked down on Asian people. In fact, everyone I know has at least one Asian friend.
Talk shows just try to find stuff to make their show dramatic or "different" to make people watch it. But in my experience, I've never met anyone who looked down on Asian people. The only stereotype I've heard from my area is that Asian people are really smart.

Probably depends on the city that you want to go to, the south, east, midwest and west are very different. Where I live on the west coast we have all different kinds of people, and not much racism, and all the boys love asian girls :)

Americans are mostly mild racists, though they themselves are not native americans and are descended from immigrants. This racism stems mostly from ignorance rather than hatred. The average american on the street has very little knowledge on matters outside his domain.

Americans generally are neutral about asians, and often consider them slightly lesser though they accept that many asians are smart and quite industrious.
