You can skip your period by taking only active pills instead of taking the placebo during the fourth week. Most pill packs are four weeks- 3 weeks of active pills and 1 week of placebos, which is the week during which a girl has her period. Opening a new pack and taking active pills during that week instead will cause you to miss your period. However, you could run into problems with insurance because you'd have to buy pills more often (every 3 weeks instead of every 4) and most insurance companies will only cover them once a month.

The best thing to do would be to get on a birth control that is designed for fewer periods, like Seasonale. I believe they give you a three month supply of active pills, then one week of placebos, so you would only have a period once every three months. It's also much shorter- maybe 3-4 days and very light (although it's usually that short with all birth control pills- I know because I've been on a lot of different types).

The FDA just approved a new birth control pill that doesn't have any placebos, therefore you never get your period. Sorry, don't know the name. You have to talk to your doctor in order to get a prescription for any birth control pill anyway and he or she would know the name.

Yes, one can stop their periods by taking the birth control pill by only doing just the hormone pills in each pack of pills. But I would recommend that they check with their dr before doing it to see if there are certain risks that make taking the pill an impossible option for them.

They would take the pill every day.

There are some pills that stop periods but i have been taking the pill for years and i still get mine.

I once took a special pill to delay my period whilst travelling overseas once you stop taking it though the period returns i guess if a person was to take it indefinately the period would stop but could cause infertility problems later in life if the woman one day wanted to get pregnant.

Yess BC pills stop your period. They are horomones that trick the body into believing you are pregnant. Pregnant people don't have periods. All pills will stop you having your period if you taking it continuosly. You have to not take it for a few days every month for you to have a period monthly. ALthough you can keep taking them and not have a period but it is not healthy to do this for long periods. Three months max. or there abouts. Your gf should consult her Doc.
