If a fly is walking on my carpet instead of flying around the room?

Should I:
a) Reconsider swatting it based on the fact that it is wounded.
b) Swatt it anyway, take no prisoners.
c) Look at it closely and check if it isn't a fallen fairy in need of help.

Offer it a nice cup of tea and a tomato sandwich. Give it your phone number and tell it that if it is every throwing up in a public restroom that you will be there for it.

It's acceptable to kill flies, that is how Chemical companys make their money, or fly swats are just as effective.
