Why is Star Wars so cool?

I expect some pretty awesome answers for this one.

CUZ IT'S F**KING AMAZING! I mean you'd feel totally ridiculous filming it. What with Leah walking around in that hairstyle and the wookie costume. Not to mention the lightsabers and strange costumes/characters/animals. Then there's yoda.

But the combination of all the ridiculous sh*t created a vortex of awesomeness. It like broke the boundaries you know? It was one of the first total geeky things that tons of people loved. It made everyone a nerd. But it rocked. And then the new movies totally killed the originals. What the hell is up with Jar Jar Binks? I totally wanted to kill him. He's the reason the new Star Wars sucked. I loved the old ones though.

Plus there was the awesome story.

I would have to say it's coolness came from what it was as referenced to the other movies that were coming out around the same time. This was the time for "Rocky", "a Clockworck Orange", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and the like. But if you were looking for SciFi the biggest effort put into a movie was the 1968 production of "2001" and I only watch that movie when nothing else will make me sleep. As for TV you only had shows like Space 1999. Remember this is the era of the "6 million Dollar Man" and most, if not all, the effects were cheesy and were spotted right off. Then came "Star Wars" where George Lucas used every trick and made up a ton of new ones to make it look pretty damn real. Nowadays with digital animation that's no big deal but thirty years ago it was huge.

The original Star Wars (1977) was a unique movie with visual effects never seen before and a good storyline too. But all the others that followed were a lot of crap. Not much of a story .Over saturation of special effects.Bad directing. They became money makers using the Star Wars logo on just about everything you can buy.

Star Wars is Amazing1 And has been a constant staple in my life over the years. I remember watching it on Beta when I was 5yrs old. Truly epic. I so wanted to be princess Leia. It is fun to put yourself into an imaginary world where good triumphs over evil. I think these movies stand the test of time because it is something fun and grand from our childhood.

I think its pretty tight because I like the father son kinda revolt, like to obi-wan anakin was a son to him and obiwan loved him so much he trained him since he was just a small child but anakin turned evil and i like the tragedy that went with it. I dont care about if its for geeks im not a fan of star wars, I just like good films i think star wars as lord of the rings is good
but harry potter that **** is gay *** hell.

because it is a classic, and changed everyones view on movies and nerdism...it really made being a nerd acceptable and almost cool. i mean, what guy doesn't want princess leah in the gold bikini, i haven't met one. i mean really, could anyone imagine their life without star wars...it would feel like something was missing. a life without han solo and taun tauns is no life at all
