Artificial crab meat usually means they are using pollack fish. When fish were plentiful in the seas, pollack was considered an unfit choice for the palate. Now that the sea's are overfished, people are jumping over pollack.
Nope, I don't think that is a five star meal, and I'd let the restaurant know how you feel, if they are advertising it as such.

You could make it work if your creative. Maybe add garlic and make crab scampi.
Throw in some onions, butter or olive oil and a few veggies and fry in skillet tossing frequently . It would be edible
