Why are they so class envious? Doesn't this just prove that they are a "give me, I'm entitled to" people? I see answers on here all the time that suggest because someone is rich that they must have lied or cheated to get there. (unless it's a rich lib... then they get the free pass on EVERYTHING... keep buying them carbon off-sets Al) The top 5% wage earners in this country pay over 50% of the tax bill. You know what else they do? They supply YOU with a job... provided your working and not just leeching. But no... tax them more because they were smarter than you... or worked harder than you... or their parents worked harder than your parents...
Do you give 50% of your excess money to the government?
And don't tell me you don't have excess cash? Everyone buys stuff they don't need.
And Finally... what gives you the right to demand one pays more of the tax load than another.... I seem to remember something about "equality" in this country?

g... so what is their "fair share"? 50, 60... 75% of their earnings... when does it get "fair in your book? Right now, the first 5 months of the year they work is for the government.... All of it. So... if we sit down to lunch together and we share an apple pie... lets say I make more than you... you eat half the pie and I eat half.... then pie costs $10.00... should I pay for $8.00 of it while you pay fro $2.00... please tell me how that is fair? And don't give me "the system is geared for them".. You have access to the same system... (little secret... shhh... everyone has access to this system...) you may have to apply yourself... work hard... or just get crazy lucky... but don't give me this garbage that the system is only built for them. Nice display of class envy BTW...

Hey truth... I am a middle class Conservative with a small business... the tax cuts worked across the board... and I can't understand how you couldn't think of any way to use the money to better your company for your employee's or create new jobs... For me, when extra money comes into my company I do more advertising.. (creating business and jobs for others) I may hire an out side sales guy... I may look to develope new product. All these things go to creating new employment or steady imployment. Did you just greedily keep it all?

And as far as your Large Corps. blocking competition... your right... everytime I go anywhere I only ever see one type of anything to buy... cereal... drinks... shirts.. cars... gas... yeah.... zero competition out there huh?... and of course the rich are trying to remain rich... I try and grow my company every year... is there a problem with that? There are more 6 figure wage earners now than ever before... could the middle class be shrinking because more people are living the dream and applying themselves?.....

Divide and conquer, the socialist mantra, hate the work, pity the poor working class.
Well it is all a lie, the rich do make more because they risk more.
But a rising tide does raise all ships. In the last six years more AMericans have been able to buy a home as a percent of the population than ever before in history. These are not rich people buying all of these homes, they are hard working middle class Americans, their tide is rising under the current administrations economic policies.
Additionally, despite all of the lies to the contrary the lower brackets are increasing in income at a far faster rate than the higher brackets, in other words, the gap between the lowest and the highest is closing, and rapidly. Hows that for equality you little commies. Pretty soon everyone is going to be doing well enough they are going to tell you to take your socialism and shove it, which of course will make you insane.

I am a middle class liberal, independent conservative if that makes any since to people.... I am single with no dependents and a 3rd of my pay check goes to taxes. So I pay my share and more. When you are single, they get you unless you do some major investing. I do not really have the funds to invest. I seem to get most of it back at the end of the year because I do give to charities and I have business expense write offs.
I do see your point and I don't blame you. There are two sides to every story. I go out and work everyday, even with a back injury that gives me disability status. I could be sitting at home collecting SSD, Welfare, and such looking at TV all day like an idiot, but I have been given by the creator an excellent brain. I get up and out and go to work, even when I am in pain. I work for a nonprofit counseling center in NYC. So I say to each his or her own. Let the liberals complain, nothing ever comes much by complaining except blowing hot air around.

A more realistic question might be why do they want to keep poor people from realizing their "American dream", then use a false contempt of rich people to mask it? The bottom line is that the tax policies do nothing more than cause business owners to tighten their belts, cut jobs, and pass on new taxes and expenses to the consumer. None of these policies really affect the rich, they have had plenty of time to figure out where all of the loopholes are in the tax code and, find creative ways to stash their money. The end result is a wider gap between the haves and the have not's.

Do I give 50% of my exess cash to the government? yeah and more. Mr. Perfect, you are asking a pretty ironic question here, as I give about $200 to the gov. every check, and i dont have that much left over by my next check.
You realize the problem most people have with narrow minds like yours is that you see things as black and white, "Liberals hate the rich because they are jelous" when clearly the issue is that the richer you get, the easier it is to influence the government. Many of these large corporations use this influence to block competetion in their line of busniess, either by supporting candidates that back tax breaks for them, while the heart and soul of this country, the small busniess, is shafted, paying more for gas and all the supplies that they need that are delivered. The fact that we are fighting this war is proof that these corporations have way too much power in this country.
You talk about equality, well why does my voice not mean as much as the head of a major corporation? hows that for equality?
Finally you talk about their parents working harder then mine? what the hell kind of idiot are you, not only is that not true but you are explaining why there is so much friction between classes. The rich are trying to keep themselves rich and they use the poor to do so, thus keeping the poor poor.
Mr. Perfect, your reasoning skills clearly are not so perfect.
Edit. You do realize every time you go into a grocery store to buy cereal, there are like 3 different companies that make the 900 different kinds, and they produce most of the other stuff in the place as well.
And of course the rich try and stay rich, but by holding down the poor, like I said. if you are going to disagree with what i said at least respond to what i am saying.
You are obviously not that bright.

Wow I defineately not a liberal, but I dont agree with everything your saying. True, there are many many honest ppl who are rich and they do pay taxes and provide jobs.. What would we do without the wealthy? Many give to charities and when they buy expensive things, it will eventually bring down the price so the common man can afford it. But paying the same taxes?! Are you kidding me? The rich have it good and most have had it handed to them on a silver platter. Are you telling me you think Paris Hilton should pay the same taxes as a man who works two jobs to provide food and shelter for his family? Having the Privileged pay a bit more than the common guy isnt a bad thing
Plus How dare you just assume life is so simple. Bad things happen to good ppl and for some reason some ppl have easy lives. That doesnt mean you can judge them. They deserve more

As you suggest, many liberals are rich. They do not hate all rich people, but may know some of them who got rich in the wrong way, by ripping off others, by dishonesty, or by legal loopholes, or illegally. Many liberals are very generous through their own or others charities. Other rich people are not. Taxing the rich is just a way to raise money without taking it away from working families and those who really can't afford to do more. Of course, all taxing and spending needs to be continually examined to see what is still worthwhile. By investing in things that provide a tax shelter, the rich can help themselves and also promote the ends for which the government has set up the tax shelter. I am not sorry to pay more taxes in the rich years of my life so that I would not have to pay so much during the years of my life when I had or will have very little income. That is how we help one another and ourselves.
One of the principles that makes a person a liberal is a belief that we all prosper when we all work and prosper. In other words, wealth is not something that we have mostly because we succeed in taking it away from someone else, but something that happens when everyone is educated, healthy, and working where they work best, to build up the economy. If you believe this, then you work to uplift all members of the society to achieve your own continued prosperity. But if you see wealth as a constant and limited amount of substance or service, then you will want to find unworthy folks that you can take their stuff without guilt, or you will not think it is worthwhile to invest in the welfare of the people of your society as a whole. This is sometimes seen as a social contract for the good of all and is a primary political theory. A contrasting approach would be a survivor mentality, that you achieve your goal by outliving everyone else, or dying with the most toys.

I dont follow some of your logic. The rich themselves combine to 50% of the tax but that doesnt equate to giving 50% of their income so I dont know why the poor would have to give up 50% of their money.
Secondly, they supply me with jobs that i need and THEY need filled as well. Its not a one sided relationship. If it were, we'd be back to the 1920s.
Thirdly, "and dont tell me you dont have excess cash? Everyone buys stuff they dont need." Wow. Way to generalize everyone. My family personally had no cable, no internet, and worked 7 days a week so dont tell me we did not conserve. And oh, WE PAY TAXES TOO.
Finally, I remember that Bush gave tax cuts to the rich only. So much for equality.
Of course I also see ridiculous claims on the liberals side but to cut it as clear as you make it is too narrow-minded.

To whom much is given much is expected. Yes, the rich man gives out the jobs, but without the working man, the rich man doesn't make any money either.
The top 5% are all multi-millionaires. I'm not going to feel sorry for the guy who makes 50 million and is taxed 25 million when the guy making 50 thousand is taxed 15 thousand. That 30% loss is much harder on the 50K guy than the 50% loss is on the 50M guy.
What gives the government the right to collect taxes? The US Constitution, that's what. It isn't arbitrary, we have taxation WITH representation.

Wow you managed to be wrong with every point you made
That's tough...even for a 2 digit Republican
The class war that has been waged in this country has been the rich waging war against the middle class and poor.
The economic top 1% now own 40% of America's wealth
While wages are falling for the rest of us (inflation adjusted)
What you are spewing is propaganda. You are obviously not intelligent enough to know when you are being used.
It is because of uneducated halfwits like you that the American Middle Class is about to become extinct.
Oh, Sheep......once you eliminate weapons from the equation the United States of America is in fact the least generous industrialized nation on the planet.
Your teachers , your parents, should all be horribly ashamed.

But some (not all) wealthier people in the 40-50% bracket are paying 19 because of wright offs....thats the only thing I hate.
