I have learned that the average person just can't spell and uses poor grammar. Heck, just look at the people on here who ask and answer questions. I'll bet 90% of the people on here don't know the different between "you're" and "your", "to" and "too", and "there", "their", and "they're". It's quite laughable, really.

OK, and since the anonymity of the web also makes everybody 10 feet tall and bulletproof, go ahead and start your flaming and insults like you did for my last question. I don't care. I just say it like it really is, and you don't want to hear it. In fact, I love making all you imbeciles mad. It's so easy to press the buttons of simpletons. The more you insult me, the more you prove my point. So bring on the poorly spelled, grammatically incorrect insults!

Because the schools no longer teach basic phonics and grammar...we are obsessed with sight words and learning at our own pace. Children should be allowed to express themselves freely...and all that crap. My husband went to a prestigious private high school and a very expensive college, and can't tell you the difference between to, too and two and didn't even know there was more than one there, their, or they're. My first grader who is going to a private school that teaches classical education, learned it at the start of the year, and my husband couldn't help him...but he has a college degree. Ridiculous.
By the way...far from an imbecile, you could be a little nicer.

When I ask my friends how to say something in their language, they seem to not know a word ( which exists ) for something. I attend a college where many languages are spoken.

Everyone makes the same grammar mistakes with their respective language. It is not just Americans.

well I'm american, and I get pretty pissed off when people don't use the right word, like you just described. I actually recently got an IM from a friend, and she said "where do you want to meat?" It caused me to vomit a little bit in my mouth.
Blame the education system.
as for punctuation.. I'm not too good at that. I throw commas in wherever I feel like it.

It might be that ENGLISH is not what they use in the home. Spanish is going to be the new official language in the USA in 10 years!

Actually, it's not just the Americans who are bad at English. I've met English who are bad at English too. So, there are bound to be English speakers in the world who are not perfect. Who is?

I'm with you. I find it disgusting to see how many people can't spell or use proper grammar or punctuation.
