because of our current technology the limit is 22 weeks but it's very rare that a child survives long after and the baby would have a labored life along with many physical and mental problems
if a baby must be born early 32 weeks it the earliest to have a baby with minimal problems as they are pretty much developed but the suggested period 38-40 weeks

I had a baby born at 28 weeks and he survived and is doing great. The nurses in the NICU said that the earlies they would want one is 27 weeks. The earliest is 24 weeks that have a good chance, but VERY iffy. Anything before that probably will not make unless there is some miracle

A baby born just recently at 21 and one half weeks survived and became the tiniest (and earliest) baby to survive. Of course, she may have problems later on down the road, but as of now, she is doing just fine.

depends where you live. Here in Canada they don't try to save the baby until 25 weeks. The States I think does 24 weeks. There was recently a baby that went to the hospital and the mother lied about the gestational age... and they saved it. It was in Britian somewhere. Anyway the baby was about 21 weeks gestation and lived and had no apparent comlications as of yet!!!! Usually they say 24 weeks though

I believe the youngest to survive was 22 weeks 5 days. She was recently discharged from the hospital.
BUT anything under 37 weeks is considered premature and can quite possibly have problems.
The longer the mother carries the baby the better the baby is!

It may be hard to believe, but if your baby were delivered at 25 weeks it would have a chance of surviving. Some of the greatest advances in medicine have been in the care of the premature baby. No one wants a baby to deliver this early, but with new treatment methods, such as ventilators, monitors and medication, a baby does have a chance of surviving.

I watched a program. The babies were 24 weeks i believe and were in the hospital for like 6 months. One survived, the other sadly, didn't make it. ANY time one of the kids came into the house they had to wash up immediatly. Poor kiddos

24 weeks is usually the deciding number. Even at 24 weeks the child may be saved but at a great cost to the child. They often have severe and lasting effects from the heroic measures that are taken to save their life.

The least amount of time any baby has spent in the womb and survived is 21 weeks 6 days. Normally, the age of viability is said to be 24 weeks.
