the simple answer is maybe.. when you empty your recycle bin your are not actually removing the files from the harddrive but just marking them as available space (the computer can write over it if it needs to). so if the files have been over written theres nothing you can do, but if not there are several programs out there that can assist you with recovering them. I don't know any off the top of my head (maybe someone else does) but i will look around and get back to you. For now just try google searching "recovering deleted files".

According to the 2003 edition of Larry Magid's book "THE LITTLE PC BOOK--WINDOWS XP EDITION" on page 198, he suggested to DOUBLE CLICK the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, make sure the file is still listed there (if so, a RIGHT, SINGLE click on where it says "restore" will put it back where it came from). If it is not listed, you may need a program like NORTON UTILITIES (or another utilities program) that has an "unerase" feature. Unerase is not 100% fail-safe, but he says it is better than the restore feature in Windows.

Run this:

Recuva - File Recovery (free)
http://www.recuva.com/
Freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!
