An empty fridge can simply mean they haven't made it to the grocery store in awhile. It happens. It is rude and tacky to ask if they are poor and you should look to yourself first and why you want to know. Is it out of concern and if so are you willing to help fix the problem? Is it simply to know or in any way to make yourself feel better? Depending on you, is how I would go about things.
If you simply want to feel better about yourself, don't say a word and get some help for yourself.
If you want to help, be observant. Look around, are they lacking in other areas? Have they dropped hints that they are having trouble making ends meet? And if they are, do not ask if they are poor, mention that you have noticed certain issues and if they need some help, you are there and willing to do what you can.

Yeah it is. How would you like it if someone started saying your poor. If there doing the best they can then you shouldn't ask. Maybe there's another way to go about it. You could start by taking them out to dinner or something if you think there not doing good with money. Help am out a little thats what familys for. You cn help them without asking and making it a big deal

I would certainly not ask anyone regarding their financial status..rich, poor or inbetween. However, if you are concerned about this relative's well-being, you may offer to go shopping for her. Without embarrassing that person, you can say you are on the way to the store and is there anything that they need.
Please do not hesitate to contact me further, if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Bless your heart, you're like me...constantly thinking what different anybody is thinking your motivations and strikes. I had to get to be 50 some thing earlier i finished filtering each and every action with the aid of "what different human beings will think of". i'm going to by no ability get previous desiring to avert hurting the emotions of different human beings although, so now i could pass to a greater delicate place, yet i could dignify the guy beside me by asserting," no offense, yet i think of i could have extra area shifting around the aisle." Do what's terrific and maximum delicate for you, yet admire the emotions of others. that's the way i'm going to constantly be. (previous Southern female and prefer it that way...bless my heart).

No offence meant to you but yes extremely so, for all you know they may be trying to keep temptation out of the way while they diet. If they're related and you don't know if they're poor or not then I suggest you get to know your relatives a bit better.

Poor people deserve to treated rudely! They expect you to work hard and give them stuff, the heck with them. I would also ask them if they have, or are they planning, to get a job or should you get an extra one to help buy them some food and maybe a new....T.V.....car....or something else they're to lazy to work for.

If the person is a relative, you should have other ways of knowing besides checking out their refrigerator.,

Yes that's rude. Maybe be a little more subtle and ask them if they are going through a tough time or need some help.

It would be better to not say anything and embarrass yourself, obviously a empty refrigerator has a reason.

Yes. Maybe they just haven't had time to get to the market. It's always rude to assume the worse concerning people, and then to voice those assumptions out loud.
