White people today should not feel sorry about slavery, that is something that happened in the past, and they had nothing to do with it. They are not responsible for the actions of their ancestors.

Now who is responsible for Robert Shelton? i feel sorry for them.

FIRST of all, increasing welfare checks for black people does not make amends. not all black people are on welfare!!! if "white people" feel bad about slavery they should just stop being racist towards african americans and other minorities. there is nothing else a white person can do to make amends. eliminating that kind of stereotyping, discriminiation, and hate will be for the better for the entire country and we can ALL move on and set an example for the rest of the world. this time, a good one.

first of all, "white people" do not have that power. It is a democratic country not a white people make the rules country. The other point is, I am black and i know welfare checks is going to affect the growth and development of african americans negatively. I think that we would get where we need to be faster if we did not have welfare. It is a discouragement to personal growth and development.
We don't need hand me downs, we need to make it on our own and that confidence we gain from achieveing something is what's going to carry us through. Welfare checks only affirm that we cannot make it on our own and we need help to survive. That's not the message you want to be sending to ANYONE
