The rays from any object at finite distance are divergent when they arrive and the convex mirror makes them more divergent. When a given ray reaches your eye it's in the same part of the image as when it arrived, so the image is upright.
The concave mirror brings these rays to a virtual focus behind the mirror if the object is nearer the mirror than the focal point. This image is upright. If the object is beyond the focal point the image is real and inverted. The ref. illustrates the geometry. Click Object to place an object arrow on the horizontal line. Then click Mirror to place and move the mirror and see the real and virtual ray paths.

NOTE: Every concave mirror has its power...(focus-->F)&point of curvature-->C. When an object is placed behind C and between F & C, image will be formed upside down but when an object is placed before F, the image will be formed upright, enlarged and virtual.
Whereas object placed in front of the convex mirror will result in an upright image and always virtual.

In any mirror the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incident at a point of incidence.
Therefore in a plane mirror a parallel beam of light is reflected as a parallel beam of light.
In a concave mirror a parallel beam of light is reflected as a divergent beam of light.
A beam of the reflected rays, if traced backwards will appear to come from a fixed point.
In a convex mirror a parallel beam of light after reflection converges to a single point.
All are due to the fact that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection.
A ray incident normally ( perpendicular to the surface ) will retrace its path after reflection.
Using these two principles we can find by simple geometry the position, and shape of the image after reflection.

It's the way the light refracts off the surface of the mirror. Light refracting off a concave surface is flipped due to the shape of the surface. The image is also distorted with a convex surface only it is not flip-it's stretched. Funny thing is, your eye flips images before your brain gets them.
