as far as im concerned, the world isnt going to end anytime soon! global warming isnt going to end it(i dont underetand why many people think that is true LOL). in my opinion(based on knowledge too), the world is LITERALLY going to end once the sun starts to die.....all stars have lives...it is an astronomical fact. our sun is predicted to glow another 5 BILLION years (a very long time). once the sun gets older it will use up the hydrogen in its core and may expand in size, and it may get close enough to possibly eliminate the earth itself.

if were lucky then maybe 4.5 billion year from now when the sun turned to red giant and burn the earth to cinders including mercury and venus ..then eventually it will become a black dwarf..and the sun is officially dead..but if were not..maybe the next hundred years when a comet or meteor hit the earth...the ozone layer cannot protect us anymore cause right now the hole in the ozone layer is as big as the USA..cha..we're doomed..thanks to us all the other living being will be at risk....and global warming will not end the world it will just turn the earth into a "water world" just like the movie..some will evolve and will develope gills behind their ears but some unlucky people wont...its so true..ive learned it from my biology class..and if each of us wont make a move to save the planet our children's children will take the fall for our mistakes...and they'll have to eat raw fish their whole life..wt a miserable thing...

I only wish that the sun burning out was the only concern here. What about wars, polution, tsunami, earth quake, etc. All these damaging floods in one area while fire is raging and burning thousands of achers in other areas?

The world will end one day but believing in religion, I think it will be because the trumpets have sounded, NOT global warming. And by the way, global warming is A REAL concern. If those ice caps melt, not only will wild life be damaged, the water composition of the earth could dramatically alter... read up on it -- i'm sure the science channel has the whole schaboodle tied up in a knot....

Our civilization the "Western World" will undoubtedly collapse one day and people will live as subsistance farmers for some time befoer another collective emerges. The cause of this can only be speculated at and in the end it will probably be the thing that we havent considered that does it.

People need a cataclysmic end to worry about in order to define their sense of time against the human life span and infinity.

I agree with you and the evidence is there to suggest that the planet is much tougher than we believe as the past was much more violent than the immediate future will be.

I believe in the ingenuity and adaptability of humans but we overestimate our importance and impact when we think Global Warming is entirely our fault and this current trend for blaming ourselves for "killing the planet" is unhealthy and causing much misery amongst ordinary, sensitive and environmentally conscious individuals.

Interesting question. When you really think about all the possibilities of our world (as we know it) ending they are overwhelming. Could be anything from nuclear war, drought, famine, disease, global warming, an asteroid in our path, or I'm sure many other scenarios. The sun is really just 1 part of the whole equation. Hope that didn't bum you out too much.

When the world is going to end nobody knows some religions have predicted, half a dozen times but as you can see we are still here.
As I say nobody knows yet but we might get another prediction, and if we do don't sell your homes in case it is another false alarm. I cant think the last time people sold their homes maybe the second, or forth false alarm, that time they got so fed up they sued and won.

The world has come to its end. Not the planet, that will, as you say, be around for billions of years. But the world is the people and people are in a state of self destruction. The leaders of this world are hell bent on the destruction of its people, and lack of respect for ourselves and others means we are our own demise. We live on this world but we do not live in it, we glide selfishly along and damn to the next man.
