Bush cut veteran benefits right after he started sending them to Afghanistan and Iraq. I guess he needed more money for corporate welfare.

Like most people say, the question is very exaggerated however it is very easy to answer. The reason these guys got war deferments (such as Cheny) is because they were going to college. (and good ones at that) You don't want future Ivy league graduates to go fight in a war. It would be a misuse of talent in the wrong area.
The reason some vets are homeless is because of the physiological stress put on them from war. Also throughout history the VA has had a reputation of not giving vets the treatment they deserve. As a veteran myself, I can confirm that theory. (Walter Reed anyone?)
And for the last part, this country has had many war heros as its president:
G. Washington (no explanation needed)
D. Eisenhower (supreme allied commander WWII)
U. Grant (4 star general Civil war)
A. Jackson (General former POW)
T. Roosevelt (Medal of honor)
JFK (Purple Heart...U-boat in vietnam)

Most war vets are not homeless. And also Bush has not cut any funding to Veterans hospitals or Veterans organizations. This is just left wing rhetoric. It always happens when there is a Republican in the white house. I work at a VA hospital, and there isn't any funding being cut. That is a lie.

Many war Vets come home sick and mentally traumatized to the point that they cannot function well in our society. It was not always like this and the reasons for it need more study very badly. Undoubtedly, illegal drugs and biological weapons are part of the problem. Most Americans believe that it is important for all of us to support the veterans as the first step to putting a stop to this waste of our young men.

You should not gulp the koolaid when you drink it. It will give you a headache. Obama started the attacks. He hiding behind the "It's Bush's fault" He owns Afgan and the activities. He has proclaimed it a necessary war. Cheney is more of a hero to the USA than anything that crawls out of the white house now.

Homeless? Not even close. There are a lot of opportunities for vets to own their own home - VA loans for starters. If any vet you know is homeless, he likely drank himself there or something equally tragic.

Incorrect, most vets have both a home and a job. Don't believe all the BS in the movies.
