I've been married for 23 years.
Right and wrong reasons depend on who and where you are in your life.
I've heard that if you spend more time miserable than happy, it's time to divorce, but there is no more guarantee of happiness outside of marriage than there is in one.
I've heard that when growth stops, it's time to move on. I've never noted growth stopping.
I've also heard that when he cheats, you have a reason. Lots of people work through that. Maybe it's only an excuse.
I don't recommend sticking around through chemical dependancy or abuse. That is a cycle that you just don't want to perpetuate.
Everyone's right reason will be different, but for me, it's time to graduate into being single when I can be the same person in the relationship as I am outside of it. I will likely be married another 50 years.

Im one of those firly tale bellievers that think they will marry their prince charming and live happily together forever with children, full time jobs and etc this is the 21st century so life gets in the way of the original fairy tale belief!! sooooo if you are contemplating divorce i would have to say abuse or infidelity would be the only reasons to divorce. In most situations things can be worked out and made back into the whole fairy tle marriage/family? God did i even make sense? oh well.

If your heart and head are in the same place emotionally as far as the marriage is concerned meaning that there is nothing left to salvage in the marriage then I would say it is time to get a divorce.
Life is too short to stay with someone if the happiness is gone. Sometimes divorces are mutual, but the only way the parties involved will know is if they communicate openly about it.

I would think that when someone says that they divorced someone for the "right" reason means that there was no love in their heart for them, anymore. To me, the right reason to divorce would be that you don't/can't show "care" anymore for the person.

I think it all depends on the person. For me the reasons would include being abusive (any form), unfaithfulness, and just the relationship falling apart without him putting in any effort. People have to decide what's right for them but in my opinion all too often people don't think about their choices before making them and then take an easy road out when things get difficult.

i think of the only genuine motives for divorce are a million. Abandonment 2. Abuse 3. Betrayal (cheating) and four. Substance Abuse that they do no longer look to be keen to get therapy for. i do no longer think of falling out of affection is a sturdy reason. There are continuously no longer uncomplicated cases and while you're keen to artwork via them then there is often that love that introduced you jointly. that's what counseling is for.

Everyone has their own right reasons. There is no specific right or wrong, it depends on the marriage/divorce and the people involved.

Frankly, I can't think of a wrong reason to divorce except for not trying to work out problems.
As tough as it is, divorce is a good thing. The social stigma that used to exist for a divorced women kept many women in impossible situations.

I say the only reason to divorce someone is if they cheated on you.

Christian right reason: Infidelity
Athiest right reason: anything you feel
Muslim right reason: never divorce, easier to be a martyr
Jewish right reason: He lost his job/ she's barren
Hope that's cleared it up.
