Some press outlets have claimed 300 to 400 thousand. As much as I can believe that many Americans might attend Washington to commemorate lost servicemen, it seems logistically impossible for that many motorcycles to be in a place the size of Washington at the same time. You would just have total gridlock, even if using all the sidewalks as well.
Any ideas?

Dude, according to this really great article there were 250,000! I love America when it does things like this! Well...I love America the good the bad and the ugly and beautiful, it is just us! Pedal to the metal and rock on!!!!!

My favorite quote from the article:

" Artie Muller, founder of Rolling Thunder, welcomed his fellow veterans at the reflecting pool before the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall, steps from the Vietnam War memorial. He and other leaders had met with the president at the White House, where the message was delivered. "We have to get our men and women back.,'' said Muller, who was an Army sergeant. "We leave no men and women behind".
