Does anyone else think that the reason Bush won't pull out of Iraq or set a timeline is because he is setting it up that whoever is president next (and with the way things look it will probably be a Democrat) is so that the *new* Democratic President will have to take the fall when Iraq turns to complete $h!t and the US is completely broke?

I'm so excited that someone from the 28% showed up to answer my question. The odds are really quite remarkable! Maybe Elisabeth Hasslebeck will answer too!

Wow, I think the whole 28% stopped by. If I were a republican this would be a great time to hold a fundraiser.

Most likely. And he and Cheney are both war profiteers, along with their fellow oil buddies and Halliburton associates. It's ghastly when you think about it.

All the answers aggravate me as not a one of you pointed out that this is an undeclared illegal war! Wake up, we were lied to, seen any WMD’s lately? Iraq was not a threat or even a legitimate enemy like North Korea would have been. A war with them would have been far more justified but hardly necessary either. As for pulling out, the only real military plans I have seen call for turning it over to the UN in something 30 years. You don’t think they will abandon the forward bases now that they have spent lives and billions do you? They need them to support the march to empire not to mention the pending war with Iran. As for surrendering, that assumes we actually are fighting a real enemy. The only fighting we hear about are groups that want us out of their country. If a foreign power was occupying our country wouldn’t you feel the same? Oops, wrong analogy as we are being occupied by a foreign country.
Let’s stop this petty bickering and really support our troops by bringing them home! I don’t want to see one more death for Bush’s and the other globalist’s interests.

For one thing, the US economy is roaring hot and the tax revenue into the US Govt is at historic highs. There isn't a lot of danger of breaking the Govt with this war.
There will not be a timeline because it will make the terrorists just lay back and wait for the US military to leave, and then they will move back in and overthrow the Iraqi Govt. The US is in support of that Govt right now and we will not leave until it can stand on it's own and protect itself. Get used to it. The United States has been in Germany and Japan since the end of World War II and are in no hurry to pull out of eather one at this time. Both countries were in turmoil after that war was over too.
Incidentially, the Iraquis who are fighting the US and Allied militarys are asking for a cease fire. Sounds like they want an end to the fighting and are willing to discuss it. Sounds like they want peace. I wonder if the insurgents want that too?

Only dumb people that do not read, President Bush has promised numerous times not to leave this war to another president. You think the new president would not quote him on that.
I do believe the Republicans will look good when the troops come home a few months before elections. The problem with Democrats using the war as their only issue is it can bite them in the tush if the war ends before the election.

I don't think so. Your comment about not setting a timeline shows you know nothing about war. You can't just pullout without surrendering - and we can't afford to lose. The future is riding on this stand. And the US has a long way to go before becoming "completely broke", don't worry about that, unless the Democrats screw up the economy by raising taxes and socialising things like medicine - those will crush our economy.

Now you are seeing Cheney's plan. You do know Cheney tells him what to think and Rove tells him what to say, don't you? Bush says he will stay in Iraq even if no one but his wife and his dog agree with him. The people who bought him the presidency certainly are getting their money's worth.

I've wondered the same thing. It seems like to me he wants to go out with a disasterous bang and leave it up for the next person to clean up the mess.

I give up on trying to figure it out :)

Not at all!! Bush will not set a timeline for our troops just as there was no timeline for our troops leaving Korea, italy, Germany, Japan . . . Iraq will not be a stronghold for us in the Middle-East. Our military presence there just may prevent Iran from attacking Isreal, afterall, we are now in their backyard . . .

I'm not sure......we all have our opinions about Iraq....but I say this.....we are there....my opinion is this war with terrorism will NEVER cease....it's here to stay.........I did'nt like going in......but now I think we have to stay......it's a war that is unavoidable in every aspect at this point......I use to not have any understanding about Muslims.....but now I see them for who they are.......wow....I just found out that there numbers they believe in are 666.......and they are truly murders..........at this point I just want every Muslims out of America......I read a poll today.....25% of U.S. Muslims under 30 believe it's ok for taking innocent lives in the name of Islam.......go figure what I think about them. We are now fighting for our lives in the U.S. Americas' problem is that we are born to live and the Muslims are born to die......it's taught by their parents and even in school that it's God's approval to kill theirselves in there religion. I just hope that we as American's have the guts to continue the fight against this kind of mind thought, if we leave, I think all hell is going to break loose......maybe it will anyway....I myself think they're sick puppys. Most of all I think they are the biggest liars on earth......there's a part in their koran thats excuses their lies.

I don't think the U.S will go completely broke, it just needs to reorganize its spending... I think Bush has a vested interest in Iraq and uses fear to try and convince us to stay there, to try and make us believe he is the only one who could save us... There is no way to win the middle east right now, but pulling out would be admitting defeat, and it might open the door for a real investigation on why were even in Iraq... so I think that he is just trying to save his own butt!!! i'm going to go with he is a horrible president, and the reasons to why he was elected baffles me! ( yeah thats right I used baffles)

No that is not the reason. You think this president is small minded enough to do that? This man cares about this country and he's doing the right thing. The tactics you describe sounds like something I would see out of a democrat, but certainly not this President. I wish Democrats would do some homework and know their topic before they start throwing accusations around.
