Meal worms are ok however, they contain a large proportion of fat, your best solution is probably locust's, easy to obtain. Although a varied diet would probably be best, meal worms, locusts, wax worms etc.

Of course not.. Meal worms are simple to raise .. Allot more then crickets I can tell you that! If you are going to breed meal worms buy a few and try to feed them to your gecko because sometimes they don't like them .. Depends! Ok so if he/she likes it Get three to four containers that can stack up (Saves some space!) You can put Oat meal and hard corn in these .. Buy about 50 meal worms and put them in the top container, Add some carrots and Apples. They will eat that right up.. put a lid on the bottom for the food so it will not get on the bedding.. It gets moldy . After a few weeks you will see them turning into little alien like things. That's when you transfer them in to another container . This stage will not move so much. They will turn red or blackish after a will .. Then they will grow legs and turn into a beetle . This is when you put the Beatles in the last container. They will eat the same things as the meal worms . A few weeks or more and you will see little meal worms crawling around . That's when you put the baby meal worms back where the old meal worms started out.. This cycle will go on and on ! Hope this helps!

Meal worms won't hurt your gecko. They eat spiders, beetles, and all sorts of stuff in the wild. Just get the small ones so he can eat them easier. Oh, and waxworms are too high in fat. Stick to meal worms and maybe some calcium dust.

I wouldn't get him meal worms b/c they are very hard to digest for a gecko of his size. Plus the geckos jaws aren't strong enough to properly chew the meal worm and then the meal worm can harm the gecko. Meal worm are for larger herptiles like Bearded Dragons that have the jaw power and teeth to really crush their food.

You can try getting flightless fruit flies (sold in pet stores), silkworms, or rice flower beetles. I have included a site you can check. They not only sell these items but giev you good info on them too.:)

My leopard gecko practically swallows them whole. Their jaws do crunch down on them but its the stomach acids that kill the mealworms. Think of any wild gecko, noone kills their food for them, besides if you put a live mealworm and a dead one in a tank the gecko will go for the live one everytime.

When that myth originated, it was about Superworms (zophoba worms), not mealworms....but regardless, no insect is going to chew through your gecko once they have eaten it. They crunch it up pretty good before they ever swallow it.
