it soooooo expresses how someone feels. for example thanks by itself is simple short and doesn't hold enough gratitude in it, so thannnnnnks would mean that someone is REALLY thankful for something. hope this helps.

I guess it's somewhat of a habit, and also to add a bit of a tone like they're talking to the person when typing. It's weird and hard to explain.

Because that is more nice because you sound like you have more enthusasim in your voice.

And also some people do it to give their words a different tone for once, they think it makes them sound more intresting

thats just some peoples way of expressing their feelings dear....when a meer thanks doesnt seem to be enough they give those extra letters to be more feeeeelllling....get the picture?

I've wondered that too. Especially the please as plleeeeeeeze! That irritates me because it looks like whining and I know they don't mean it that way.
