I've had several people say this too me, but I think it's a myth, because it's so rediculous sounding.

To the person above me: "feet slipping off the pedals"? what is that supposed to mean? If someone isnt strong enough to keep their foot on the pedal, then I doubt shoes would help.

The issue I have with driving with shoes on is that you cant FEEL the pedal as well. I think shoes make it more dangerous because the sides of the soles can be pressing on the other pedal and it's very difficult to feel. Also, shoes can catch and get stuck when trying to move from the gas to teh break quickly.

The word is "barefoot", and as long as you keep a pair of slip on shoes or flip-flops under the driver's seat, no one will ever know.
Trust me.
