The Pakistan and India entities came into being when the British who ruled greater India for about 200 years were forced to grant independence after many years of 'struggle for independence' by politicians from mostly Hindu and Muslim leadership. Pakistan declared independence on 14th August 1947 while India did it on 15th August 1947.

The East Pakistanis were treated by the Punjabi dominated West Pakistani Central government like Second Class citizens. The religion - ISLAM that was the basis for the creation of India and Pakistan was not taken seriously by the then civilian as well as Military rulers of Pakistan in respect of equal treatment for the population of both the wings of Pakistan.

In 1966 the Bengali leadership of 'Awami League' (AL) headed by Maulana Bhasani and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were treated badly by the Pakistani leadership and the Agartala conspiracy was unearthed where India helped AL leadership to 'conspire' to break Pakistan. However, no Bengali speaking people were found who could credibly stand as witness against the AL leaders held in prison in this matter. Therefore, Pakistani military rulers were forced to release Sk. Mujib from confinement and he declared 6-points for the equal treatment of East Pakistanis, though these demands were short of asking for Autonomy.

Thereafter, AL could mobilize whole of the Bengali people to stand behind it and then the General Election of 1970 came where AL got absolute majority by winning 297 seats out of 300 seats (the figure may go slightly +/-) and Pakistan People's party headed by Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto got majority in West Pakistan, but not enough seat to become the Prime Minister since the population of West Pakistan was 55 Million and East Pakistan was 75 Million.

Bhutto then started conspiring in collusion with the then military president General Yahya Khan to make sure that Sk. Mujib couldn’t form the government in the Centre and become the PM of Pakistan. This foolhardy decision of Bhutto/Yahya nexus was the last nail in the coffin of One-Pakistan with two wings (East & West). On the evening of 26th March Pakistani military arrested Sk. Mujib and then started with their infamous genocide on un-armed civilians of the then East Pakistan. Sk. Mujib could somehow send the message to be read out in his name for declaring Independence of Bangladesh that message was first read-out by Major Ziaur Rahman (later became President of Bangladesh) from Kalurghat Radio Station in Chittagong.

India was all along helping our Freedom Fighters (Mukti Bahini) with all types of help, but covertly. When on 4th December 1971India declared war on Pakistan then only the Indian soldier with their Tanks and heavy equipments came to the help of our Mukti Bahini who were fighting by their own till that date. After 12-days of fighting the Pakistani Army surrendered to the Joint forces of Indo-Bangla command. However, India wanted to exact its price for the moral, diplomatic and material support it extended to Bangladeshi governments in exile in India and tried to rob the glory of our freedom struggle by falsely drumming up that it has handed over East Pakistan to Bangladeshi leadership by its own. What a farce!

The respondent 'soundrajan v' though seems to be knowledgeable person, but could not come out of India's false propaganda and subscribed what its government wants it to believe, including the freedom struggle and birth of India & Pakistan as independent nations back in 1947.

Btw, where did he ('soundrajan v) find these stories of "Pakistan wanted to have a corridor to access East Pakistan? The corridor passes through the heart of India, which India refused...". This is the first time I have heard such ridiculous demand, as alleged by him.

I think a Truth & Reconciliation Commission to be formed to weed out the falsehood and let the citizens of these three countries know the truth and then live side-by-side in civilized manner. Bullying by anybody may prevail for sometime, but can not make the history change by its whim!

The UK used their favourite divide and rule tactic with the population of India. However, their religious hatred of one another became far too strong so a new country had to be created, Pakistan - which translates a Clean land. Many people were forced to move there against their will. It's just one more embarrassing detail from England's colonialist history. Now the two countries have nuclear weapons. It would be nice if the people of India and Pakistan could see what they have had done to them and come to an amicable understanding that they are the victims of a greedy UK. I believe Pakistan was created in 1947.

In 1971, East Pakistan decided to seek independence and took the name Bangladesh

Before India's independence, all the three, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were known as India. In 1947, Mohamed Ali Ginna who was a member of India National Congress and fighting for the freedom, decided to seek independent country for all the Muslims living. Indian leaders like Gandhi agreed and as a result two countries were created. One was called INDIA and the Other was called PAKISTAN.
The division of India was based on the majority of people living there. The Hindu majority land got named as India and Muslim majority land got named as Pakistan. The majority of Muslims were living either side of India. So the the east of India was called as East Pakistan and the west of India was called as West Pakistan. Between East and West Pakistan there was no connection by land. Latter, Pakistan wanted to have a corridor to access east Pakistan. The corridor passes through the heart of India, which India refused. Because of the distance and poor connection the east Pakistanis were feeling let down by west Pakistan. They decided to have independence from Pakistan. Pakistan refused to give freedom to East Pakistan. On the other hand India was not happy to have one country spanning either side of it. India took this opportunity and fought a war with Pakistan in 1971. After winning the war, India unilaterally declared East Pakistan as Bangladesh.
This is the history and this was the beginning of Kashmir trouble. Now Pakistan determined to split India as a policy of tit for tat. They unable to do so. So they decided to have a Proxy war with India. They now train people and help them to infiltrate in to India Kashmir state and create headhac to India..

Basically, the Pakistans were formed when India became independent. The bulk of the Muslim population left the borders of the new India and formed the two countries. However, West Pakistan had the bulk of the wealth, population and power, and East Pakistan was treated like a poor relation. A severe typhoon hit East Pakistan, and the disaster relief was so bad that the people revolted and formed their own country. (shades of Katrina?)

I'm a guy, and personally, I don't like long nails. I know a lot of like long, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.

2 Reasons:

. Bengali politicians were not given enough power share.
. Leading Bengali politicians saw this as a chance to severe relations with Pakistan (with foreign help and intervention) and to secure the status of being powerful and elite.
